This cool mesh dog harness is the ideal dog running harness. It is strong yet soft for safety and comfort. In addition, this escape proof dog harness is narrower at the waist, making it the perfect fit dog harness for sighthounds.

Your dog can use her entire body capacity when running without impeding movement with this product. The chest cooling harness has an internal cooling material activated with water. The outer mesh makes it the most breathable harness we make. Perfect for summer running with your dog and as a dog car harness.

UPDATE:
We are happy to announce that the dog running harness has now been trialled in all breeds to perform well for other all breeds of dog. Please read the sizing distinction further down the page to select the appropriate shape in the drop-down menu when you order.

The running harness was initially designed and tested with deep-chested dogs such as greyhounds, lurchers, whippets and Italian greyhounds.

Strength and safety features - the escape-proof harness

The design of this running harness allows pulling distribution. Therefore, its safety is not compromised when your dog pulls whilst preventing injuries in its neck and body. The harness narrows at the waist to stop your dog wriggling out of it. It's not an anti-pulling dog harness, but it will help protect you and your dog from injuries.

The product is fitted with strong webbing and solid brass d-rings at the attachment points for safety. In addition, the top part has a 50mm wide reflective tape to make your dog visible to cars.

Comfortable and soft - the perfect fit harness

Dogsnug running harness in white

Our soft running harness stands out in how comfortable it is for the dog. There are many harnesses on the market, but they tend to be hard and stiff. Our soft quality harness ensures that your dog has a free range of motion as it runs, plays or sits in the car. The contact points stay clear of areas that move our dogs, preventing chafing and getting in the way of their impeccable movement. We find these to be the best dog harnesses for running.

Step In Dog Running Harness

The harness is straightforward to put on a dog; it is a step-in harness. The harness secures around the body with baby velcro, a strong but non-abrasive velcro that makes very little noise and does not pull on your dog’s fur.

How to Put on a Dog Running Harness

  1. Step in
  2. Fasten the velcro
  3. Clip the plastic cam & thread your lead fitting through both D-rings

Best Cooling Dog Harness

This is by far the most breathable dog harness in our range. The mesh fabric allows for air to circulate around your dog even when the cooling material is not activated, preventing the harness from overheating your dog whilst running if you forget to activate it.

It is the ideal stay cool dog harness: fitted with an internal cooling material capable of retaining coolness for up to 5 hrs when activated. Works by evaporation so all you need to do is wet before you leave or on the go with your water bottle.

  1. Pour water
  2. Squeeze out excess
  3. Top up as necessary

Please be mindful of your dog’s well-being. It is advisable to walk dogs during the coolest part of the day in the summer. Always test the ground to make sure that it is not hot to the touch; bring a water bottle with you. Please never leave your dog alone in a car on warm days.

How to measure a dog for a harness

For this running harness, the dog's chest & ribcage circumferences and the undercarriage length are the most important areas to measure, as this will guarantee a good fit and its safety. Super snug and fancy for my whippet!

I spent a long time researching an appropriate harness for my dog. Many readily available harnesses look fine for dogs with thick coats; however, with whippets’ thin skin and lean build they look too uncomfortable and like they would easily rub.
The running harness is made with comfort and flexibility in mind. Its stretch fabric moves with the skin rather than against it.
When I received it and tried it on my dog, I was initially worried I’d ordered plumped for a too smaller size. I rang the Dogsnug store and the lady on the phone couldn’t have been more helpful as I aired my concerns over wanting to get the sizing right. She explained that I could order another one requesting bespoke measurements and return the standard size- it was super helpful service.

In the end I decided to keep the size I ordered and so far my dog is getting on really well with it. It’s snug, but I feel that is the right fit for this harness.

If he puts on any weight in the winter, I’ll order another one :-)

Great harness for whippets

This is by far the best anatomical harness that I have found for my boy. It fits him perfectly and he can run as fast as he likes without it interfering with his movement. As a veterinary nurse I’ve always been really cautious with the type of harness I’ve used but I’m really impressed with this. From a safety point of view it could be improved further by adding another clip to the top section of the harness or by adding a zip rather than velcro (it would just put my mind at ease a little more). My boy doesn’t often pull on his harness but I would be more cautious of whippets that really pull or jump around as realistically no harness is 100% escape proof. I will also just be a little cautious in hot weather. I am going to wait a few months to see how the velcro holds up but will definitely be buying another one! Matching leads would also be great 😄

Not escape proof!

I love this harness and it looks really comfortable, but the waist stretches enough for my lurcher to escape from it easily (see photo). It seems to be the right size as it was a bit too tight when I bought it. My dog is very happy wearing it and it doesn't slide from side to side unlike his other harnesses. I'm using it in the countryside away from livestock and roads, but with a back-up lead to his collar. It's perfect for when he goes out with his dog walker as they drive him to a secure field to run around, or when I'm visiting friends/family and want to leave his GPS tracker on to be on the safe side. I wouldn't recommend it for nervous dogs, dogs with a high prey drive, or any dog that is a flight risk.
